Babson Finance Professor named editor-in-chief of Financial Management

Professor of Finance at Babson College Michael GoldsteinDonald P. Babson Professor of Applied Investments, has been named Editor-in-Chief of Financial Management (FM). Goldstein is joined by Kathleen Kahle of the University of Arizona and Shawn Thomas of the University of Pittsburgh as new editors.

Financial direction serves the profession by publishing important new academic research in finance that is of the highest quality. The main criteria for publication in the quarterly review are originality, rigor, topicality, practical relevance and clarity.

Goldstein, faculty director of the Master of Science in Finance program at Babson, will begin his three-year tenure as FM editor in October. Goldstein was also recently named editor of The Financial Reviewis the editor of Weather, climate and societyand the Secretary/Treasurer of the Financial Management Association.

At Babson, Goldstein taught the course Arctic Economics: Climate and Policy, which involves a mix of lectures, research, and field trips. For just over two weeks, the students studied at Nord University in Bodø, Norway, and took the course with students and faculty from Nord and Brown University. Previously, Goldstein had brought Babson students to Canada’s Northwest Territories to study ice roads used by long-haul truck drivers. Both trips were partially funded by grants from the US National Science Foundation (NSF).
